Betty Ann Bridges, age 88, passed away on May 30, 2024, in Rogersville, Tennessee. Betty was born to James and Thelma Dunlap on May 23, 1936, in Charleston, South Carolina. She graduated from Winthrop College in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She married E. Thomas Bridges on Oct. 20, 1961, in Brevard, North Carolina, and shared 61 loving years together. She worked as a teacher in Brevard and Dothan and was beloved by her students. Her greatest joy was being a wonderful mother and grandmother to her three children and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Thomas Bridges; parents, James and Thelma Dunlap; and brother, Dr. James Arthur Dunlap.
She is survived by her children, Pam (Larry) Koons, Barry (Joanne) Bridges, and Alison (Chuck) Gault; grandchildren, Courtney (Anhtuan) Bui, Russell Koons, Ben Bridges, Thomas (Christina) Bridges, Ansley Bridges, Camella Bridges, Max Gault, and Charlie Gault; great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Connor, Austin, and Nathan Bui; siblings, Barbara Mumpower, Allen Dunlap, and Cheryl Nichols; and several nieces and nephews.
The family of Betty wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Olaya Magallanes who was a wonderful caregiver and friend, also to the friends and caring staff at Signature Lifestyles and The Caris Hospice Team. The family will hold a private service for Betty and Tom at a later date.
