After more than 220,000 nominations, Gulf Coast Media's Best of Baldwin 2026 has entered its final voting phase.
From now until Wednesday, Nov. 19, readers can vote to determine their favorite in nearly 400 categories — from the best restaurant or boutique to the top local school and community event.
Final-round voting kicked off Wednesday, Oct. 22 at www.GulfCoastMedia.com/BestOf allowing participants to cast one vote per category each day. The finalists, narrowed to the top five most-nominated in each category, now await their community's decision. Voters can support their local favorites across a wide range of categories, including best chef, art gallery, automotive services, home improvement and nonprofit organization.
The annual contest celebrates not only the businesses and services of Baldwin County but also the people who make it special. GCM Promotions Manager Whisper Edwards said the contest continues to grow because it reflects the pride residents and visitors have in their community.
"Best of Baldwin isn't just about the winners — it's about the pride people feel for where they live," Edwards said. "Every nomination and every vote represents someone cheering for their favorite teacher, restaurant or small business. People in Baldwin County care deeply about their community, and this contest gives them a fun, meaningful way to show that support."
The community-driven contest has become one of Baldwin County's signature traditions. What began as a small, print ballot-based local vote has evolved into a full-scale celebration featuring a red carpet ceremony and a glossy Best of Baldwin magazine. Winners will receive a framed certificate, a window cling and recognition in the annual magazine.
The top vote-getters will be honored at the Best of Baldwin 2026 Red Carpet Event at the Orange Beach Event Center on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026.
Voting is open to everyone, though nominees and winners must be located in Baldwin County. No subscription to Gulf Coast Media is required, and participation is free. Anyone can cast votes once per day in each category.
Gulf Coast Media reminds participants to be cautious of scams. Some outside companies falsely claim to offer plaques, promotional materials or "guaranteed wins" for a fee. These are not legitimate. Only Gulf Coast Media provides official recognition at no cost. Suspicious communications should be verified directly with Gulf Coast Media. Anyone found using third-party vote-buying or "only pay if you win" marketing services will be disqualified.
Advertising packages are available to increase brand visibility during this high-traffic period. Options include ballot placements, print and digital ads, gallery features, enhanced category listings and consolidated links showcasing all categories a nominee competes in. Advertising helps offset contest costs and supports Gulf Coast Media's ongoing community coverage. Advertising does not guarantee a win but connects your brand with Baldwin County's largest recognition audience.
