The Bayside Academy boys’ soccer team collected its fifth consecutive AHSAA State Soccer Championship with a 3-0 win over Mars Hill Bible Friday morning in Huntsville.
The Admirals have won the last two on the Class 4A stage (2024, 2023) before three in a row in Class 1A-3A (2022, 2021, 2019). Bayside Academy also won the Class 1A-3A crown in 2016 making this the sixth Blue Map trophy in the last eight years.
After they survived a semifinal shootout with Oneonta, 4-1, on Wednesday, the Admirals then delivered a shutout on Friday. Senior goalkeeper and Southern Maine signee Aldo Bryant saved the only shot on goal he faced in the final match compared to Bayside Academy’s 10 shots on goal.
Junior Luke Ferguson was named State Championship MVP with two of the Admirals’ three goals in the state finals. His first came on a corner-kick assist from senior Jack Hicks, who put home the final goal in the semifinal shootout. Ferguson converted a penalty-kick opportunity 16 minutes later before eighth-grader Stephen Trotter registered the final score.
Bayside Academy, coached by Jamie Ferguson since 2005, finishes the season 10-4-2.
