Baptist Health Care Foundation is celebrating 50 years of supporting Baptist Health Care and the communities it serves, marking a milestone in its role of expanding services, advancing technology and enhancing compassionate care.
The Foundation was established Aug. 13, 1975, but its roots trace back to Baptist Health Care’s founding nearly 75 years ago. Leaders at the time envisioned a regional health system built on generosity and faith, a vision that continues to guide the organization.
“This anniversary is more than a celebration of the past — it’s a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the community whose unwavering support has made it possible, and a continuation of a legacy that began even before the Foundation was formally established,” said Mark Faulkner, president and CEO of Baptist Health Care. “When Baptist was founded nearly 75 years ago, our leaders cast a bold vision for transforming health care in our region. The community responded with generosity and faith, laying the groundwork for what would become a trusted institution of healing.”
Over the past five decades, contributions from community members and team members have surpassed $75 million. Those donations have supported services and programs across Baptist Health Care, including behavioral health, cancer care, heart and vascular services, women’s health, stroke treatment, speech and hearing, physical rehabilitation and sports medicine outreach.
The Women’s Board of Baptist Health Care Foundation, which will celebrate its own 50th anniversary in 2026, plays a key role in fundraising efforts. The volunteer board, composed of women from both Baptist and the broader community, focuses on advancing health initiatives and improving care.
In 2023, the Foundation completed its largest fundraising campaign to date, helping finance the new Baptist Hospital campus on Brent Lane. Philanthropy remains central to the Foundation’s efforts as it works to expand facilities, improve technology and elevate patient care.
The organization also oversees the Helping Hands program, a giving initiative led by Baptist Health Care team members who provide support for patients, colleagues and the community.
“I am grateful to every Foundation donor for their passion and commitment to our Mission,” said Heather Moorer, director of Baptist Health Care Foundation. “It’s incredible to see the Foundation’s impact on our organization, our team members and our patients over the last 50 years, and we look forward to continuing our legacy for the next 50 years.”
