Seven Baldwin County students will showcase their talents at the Distinguished Young Women's Community Night program on Wednesday, June 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the Mobile Civic Center Theater.
This event is a highlight of the national Distinguished Young Women competition held annually in Mobile.
Last October, winners from the Distinguished Young Women Spotlight Talent Showcase, hosted at Murphy High School, competed across four divisions: Mini Division (grades 1-3), Kids Division (grades 4-6), Junior Division (grades 7-9) and Senior Division (grades 10-12). Each division winner earned a $500 scholarship for their respective schools.
Notable performances included sisters Essie Rae and Marcie Ann Vesely winning the Mini Division with their piano duet "Popcorn, Please!" and brothers Steven and Bentley Noble taking the Kids Division with "Cantina Band." In the Senior Division, Katie Smith impressed with the classical piano piece "Shadow Dance" by Edvard McDowell.
Ford Macklen stood out as the overall winner in the 2 p.m. showcase with his rendition of "Alone in the Universe," while Mia Chatwood claimed the Senior 6 p.m. showcase with a captivating dance performance.
Friends and family of these talented students are encouraged to attend the Community Night on June 26th at the Mobile Civic Center Theater. The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., is free and open to the public.
