At the Nov. 20 organizational meeting held before the Baldwin County Board of Education (BCBE) meeting, board members voted on who would serve in the president and vice president positions.
Andrea Lindsey of District 2, which covers schools in the Daphne area, nominated Tony Myrick of District 3, or the central Baldwin area, to the position of president. Rondi Kirby of District 4, or the Foley area, Magnolia School and Swift School, seconded the motion.
The rest of the board unanimously approved the nomination and Myrick switched places with previous president Cecil Christenberry of District 6, or the Fairhope area.
Myrick then led the board on the next action, electing a vice president.
After a motion from Christenberry and a second from Jason Woerner of District 5, or the Elberta area, April Bradley of District 7, covering the Spanish Fort area along with Belforest, Loxley and Rockwell Elementary, was re-elected in her position as vice president of the board.
At the board meeting that immediately followed the organizational meeting, no one spoke from the audience. This was the first of the board meetings mentioned by Baldwin County Assistant Superintendents as an appropriate time to address the board with concerns of the school zone redistricting pitched earlier this month.
Other upcoming BCBE meetings for public comment on redistricting include Dec. 11 at 4:30 p.m. in the Central Office Satellite building at 1091 B Ave. in Loxley, and Jan. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at 2600 North Hand Ave. in Bay Minette.
