More than $12 million in disaster recovery funding is headed to infrastructure projects across Baldwin County, including $2 million each for water expansion in Fairhope and a disaster recovery project in Bay Minette, along with drainage, sewer, roadway and water improvements in communities throughout the county.
According to a news release from the Baldwin County Commission, 10 projects received funding through the Local Government Recovery Infrastructure Program, or LGRIP. The projects are designed to strengthen public infrastructure impacted by Hurricanes Sally and Zeta while helping communities prepare for future severe weather.
Other major awards include $1.58 million to Daphne for Randall Avenue drainage improvements, $1.24 million to the East Central Baldwin Water Authority for water line installation along Woerner Road, Foley Beach Express and Kings Landing Road and $1 million to North Baldwin Utilities for restoration of the Westside Wastewater Treatment Plant emergency storage pond.
“These investments strengthen the infrastructure our communities rely on every day and during severe weather,” said Commissioner Jeb Ball in the release. “Working with our municipalities and utility partners, we are thrilled to be investing disaster recovery funds in projects that will make Baldwin County more resilient and better prepared for future storms.”
The 2026 LGRIP awards include:
The LGRIP awards are part of a larger $43.36 million allocation Baldwin County received in Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery funding from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs to support long-term recovery from Hurricanes Sally and Zeta.
The county developed its Local Recovery Plan to identify remaining needs and determine how the funding should be invested in housing, infrastructure and other recovery efforts.
Under the plan, Baldwin County established LGRIP and allocated $13.36 million to the program for infrastructure projects led by municipalities and eligible local entities.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development oversees CDBG-DR funding, while ADECA administers the funds at the state level.
