As of 2 p.m. Friday, the Alabama Department of Transportation has released a list detailing the status of nearby Welcome Centers and Rest Areas in the state as Hurricane Isaias begins to bring tropical storm conditions to the northern Gulf Coast.
This is to provide those who are leaving the coastal area with information on where they will be able to safely stop during their travels as Hurricane Isaias impacts the region. Bridges onto the island of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach closed around noon, and there has been a mandatory evacuation order in effect from the governor's office for non-residents, tourists and visitors since 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
