FAIRHOPE — Volanta Park and W. C. Majors Field at Fairhope Municipal Stadium hosted Baldwin County Public Schools’ Spring Games Thursday, April 6.

Special Olympic athletes represented their respective schools and ran, jumped and threw their way to the podium in front of fans, coaches and teachers. The results of months-long efforts were on display along with plenty of smiles and high fives.

The event got started with an opening ceremony where each school decorated its own banner with the team’s theme. The Perdido School took first place with their Pac-Man style banner and the students dressed up as ghosts.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and local police departments participated in a torch run to close the ceremonies. Four athletes ran a relay and passed the torch while surrounded by law enforcement officers.
