Whether you're looking to browse local art in Gulf Shores, take part in the Sunshine Sprint in Bay Minette or celebrate first responders with a free Baldwin Pops concert, there's plenty to keep you entertained. Lillian Park is unveiling new upgrades, and the weekend is filled with activities for everyone, from craft shows to car shows.

As the weather cools and the holiday season approaches, it's also a great time to plan for upcoming festivities. From family-friendly activities to seasonal events, Baldwin County has something for everyone.

PENINSULA NEIGHBORHOOD ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOW

What: The Peninsula neighborhood in Gulf Shores will hold an arts and crafts show featuring local artists displaying and selling original works, including oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings; jewelry; ceramics; clothing items; and more. Some artists have designated proceeds for specific nonprofits. The public is invited to browse and support the diverse collection of art. A total of 12 artists will showcase their original works at the Peninsula arts and crafts show, including Robin Anderson, Sue Buford, Susan Estes, Steve Gregg, Gail Hisle, Sarah Morgan, Marianne Pesce, Kristin Pierre, Anne Quinn, Ellen Rodgers, Lauri Rogers and Karen Whitehall.

When: Saturday, Sept. 28, 9 a.m. to noon

Where: Re/Max office, 20 Peninsula Blvd., Gulf Shores

LILLIAN RECREATIONAL PARK OPEN HOUSE AND DEDICATION

What: Lillian Recreational Park is hosting an open house to showcase improvements funded by a $109,000 grant from Impact 100 Baldwin County. Visitors can explore new additions, including the dog park, four pickleball courts and a wildlife viewing area. There are also upgrades to the playground, conference room, kitchen, benches and landscaping. The event includes a dedication ceremony at 11:30 a.m., followed by complimentary hot dogs.

SUNSHINE SPRINT RUN TO BENEFIT CHILDHOOD CANCER CHARITY

What: Infirmary Health is sponsoring the inaugural Sunshine Sprint, an 8K and 1-mile fun run/walk benefiting Rapahope, a nonprofit that supports families affected by childhood cancer. Replacing the annual RIDEYELLOW event, the Sunshine Sprint continues the mission of raising cancer awareness and providing financial aid for families. The event includes post-race festivities, and Bay Minette City Council officially declared Sept. 28, 2024, as Sunshine Sprint Day.

CHASE SHARP MEMORIAL CAR SHOW

What: Bay Minette Swap/Market is hosting the first annual Chase Sharp Memorial Car Show in honor of Chase Sharp's passion for automobiles. The event will showcase a variety of classic, vintage and custom cars, along with craft and food vendors. Proceeds will go towards supporting future Swap/Market events.

When: Saturday, Sept. 28, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Registration from 7:30 to 9 a.m.; Awards at 1 p.m.)

Where: Kids Park, 303 McMillan Ave., Bay Minette

Price: Car show entry - $20 (limited to 60 spots)

COMMUNITY SAFETY DAY AT OWA

What: OWA's Downtown will host its annual Community Safety Day, offering interactive demonstrations by first responders and local organizations. Families can enjoy a 70-foot obstacle course, firefighter hat coloring and games like Red Light Green Light. Attendees will meet representatives from Alabama's public safety agencies, including Foley Fire Department, Baldwin EMC and the Alabama Department of Public Health. In addition, health care and first responder workers can receive 15% off Tropic Falls admission during the event.

BALDWIN POPS TRIBUTE CONCERT FOR FIRST RESPONDERS

What: The Baldwin Pops will host a free tribute concert dedicated to first responders, with a surprise guest and a VIP section reserved for active and retired first responders and their families. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for comfort, and the event features a flag parade for children after intermission. There will also be a "Checkered Tablecloth Award" for the best picnic setup.
