From Foley’s Hometown Halloween and Downtown Fairhope Trick-or-Treat to the Elberta German Sausage Festival, there’s something for everyone.
Train rides, pumpkin patches, haunted tours, live music, bluegrass and craft vendors offer plenty of ways to celebrate the season. Costume contests, hayrides, bounce houses and sweet treats make it perfect for kids and adults alike. Plus, check out this free event tonight: a Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show at The Hangout in Gulf Shores, part of the Parrot Heads in Paradise Meeting of the Minds celebration.

What: The Parrot Heads in Paradise Meeting of the Minds (MOTM) presents a Free Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show, celebrating Buffett’s music and tropical lifestyle. What: Foley’s annual Hometown Halloween brings families to downtown for games, hayrides, tricks and treats. Features include a costume contest, face painting, jump house, cake walk and food concessions. Booths will be judged for creativity with recognition online. Portions of South Alston Street, Orange Avenue, and East Laurel Avenue will be closed, with police and firefighters on site for safety.

What: The Elberta German Sausage Festival is a biannual event raising funds for the Elberta Volunteer Fire Department and other community initiatives. Enjoy nearly 200 arts and crafts and nonprofit vendor booths. Food options include German sausage, roasted corn, BBQ, kettle corn and carnival fare. A bounce house area benefits the Elberta Police Department Reserve Program. Proceeds also support festival operations.

What: Downtown Fairhope hosts a morning of Halloween fun for children. Kids can trick-or-treat at participating shops marked with orange pumpkins. Special appearances include the Sanderson Sisters, the Fairhope Volunteer Fire Department truck, Pete the Pelican with Fairhope Public Utilities, and a Police Department cruiser. The Diane Douglas Canned Food Drive will be held at the corner of Section Street and Fairhope Avenue.

What: Foley Witches Rides will take place in Downtown Foley, beginning at 5 p.m. and ending with an after-party at Heritage Park. Riders must be over 21 and female. All proceeds benefit local community betterment organizations including Family Promise, Lighthouse of Baldwin County, Foley Scouts Troop, Turkey Take Out, Grand Witch Charity of Choice, Foley High School, Foley Middle School, Foley Elementary School, Magnolia Elementary and Florence B. Mathis Elementary School. Tickets on sale Aug. 18 include race entry, a t-shirt and entry into the after-party. Those not riding can attend the after-party for a $20 donation.
