Posted

A married couple was arrested Jan. 1 after a wife reportedly shot her husband in the foot just after the clock struck midnight into 2024 amid an argument that led to the husband being arrested on domestic violence charges.

On Jan. 1, law enforcement officers responded to a distress call at 1010 W. Beach Blvd., which is Crystal Towers Condo in Gulf Shores. According to a news release from the Gulf Shores Police Department, upon arrival, officers discovered a 39-year-old male on the seventh-floor walkway with a gunshot wound to his foot. The victim was attended to by officers while additional personnel engaged with the occupants in the condo, where the male had been vacationing with his family.

Preliminary investigations and witness interviews indicated a verbal dispute among family members escalated into a physical altercation within the condo premises. Subsequently, a female family member reportedly armed herself with a pistol, firing a single shot that struck the male victim.

The man was transported by ambulance to the South Baldwin Freestanding Emergency Department, where he is being treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

Marianne Hough Savage, 42, of Covington, Georgia, was apprehended at the scene and is facing charges of domestic violence-second degree. Additionally, John William Savage, also from Covington, Georgia, has been arrested and charged with two counts of domestic violence-third degree.
