Here are some updates on bridges on and off the island of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach as well as information about travel through Allegiant Airlines at Gulf Shores International Airport ahead of Hurricane Isaias' imminent landfall somewhere along the north Gulf Coast.
From the Gulf Shores Police Department: "Please do not call the Gulf Shores Police Department's non-emergency line seeking information about potential bridge closures, evacuation timelines, or whether mandatory evacuations will be issued. Those decisions have not been finalized, and official information will be distributed through City communication channels as soon as it becomes available. Keeping non-emergency lines clear helps ensure our personnel can focus on public safety and emergency preparedness efforts."
FROM GULF SHORES & ORANGE BEACH TOURISM
Beach conditions
Water is closed. High risk of life-threatening rip currents throughout Friday and Saturday with dangerous surf (20-25 foot breakers on the east side of the storm). Both cities are flying double red flags, which means the waters are closed. While the surf that comes with weather events may look “fun,” this surf is very dangerous and life-threatening. For your own safety and the safety of others, stay out of the water.
