THANK YOU! To the PTA for the wonderful work YOU put forth to make the Fall Festival and first annual Fun Run such a success!
Thank you also to all the parent and teacher volunteers that helped with set-up, booth management and take-down. It couldn’t have been done without each and every one of YOU!
Mrs. Cole’s class had a great time making T-shirts to wear for our upcoming Native American unit. The children helped paint various Native American symbols on their shirts. The class talked about the types of clothing Native Americans wore and how different it was from what we wear today. During our unit we will be learning about different Native American tribes and how they lived a long time ago.
Kindergarten students in Mrs. Jackson’s room have been discussing cowboys. They will also begin discussing the Pilgrims and Native Americans. The class is almost finished with their hallway farm mural, they just need a few more farm animals.
On Tuesday, Nov. 20, Jackson’s students will have their Thanksgiving feast.
Mrs. McGinty’s kindergarten class is having a rootin’ tootin’ good time learning about cowboys this week!
The class is brainstorming what their outlaw name is and what crime they could have committed, because they are creating “WANTED” posters!
Also, students painted bandanas using cowboy symbols and learned lots of cowboy songs and poems.
The class is thankful that there are cowboys today who take care of the cattle and horses out west.
Mrs. Clayton’s class will soon begin a unit on air and weather. Students will learn that air is matter and that it can move items.
This will be an exciting unit for the student and wonderful as the air temperature begins to change.
Mrs. Riel’s class has been reviewing blends. Students are learning that verbs are action words and “tense” means time. They are practicing sentences in journals using good verbs.
Mrs. Bailey’s class enjoyed creating a door decoration for Red Ribbon Week. It was titled “Don’t Let the Drug Monsters Get You.”
Students used colored paper and their imagination to make a unique monster that would scare away drugs that are harmful to our bodies.
Our class also is learning about different cultures and how they affect our world view.
Second-graders in Mrs. Sanders’ class are excited about using their new laptops for different classroom assignments.
They are learning to classify different animals by their characteristics in Science.
Mrs. Stembridge’s second-graders are looking forward to their Thanksgiving feast on Friday. They will enjoy good food and good fellowship with their family and school friends!
Mrs. Utsey’s second grade wants to extend a HUGE thank-you to our parents!
Thank you, moms who helped with our Fall Celebration special snack! It was delicious!
Also, thank you to Sandy Martin and others who helped or sent in items for the Fall Festival. It was a great day of fun and we could not do it without you!
Great job, PTA for a wonderful Festival!!
Congratulations to Jazmine Harris for being chosen our Shining Star for the week. Students are looking forward to reading about the Pony Express in our reading series. They are also studying about Animal Habitats in science.
In Mrs. Megginson’s class the students are learning how to count elapsed time. They are also preparing for their PTA Christmas program on Monday, Dec. 3.
In Mrs. Majure’s art classes, students designed their own piece of the red and white chain for Red Ribbon Week, which was celebrated last week. The chain was a wonderful symbol showing the united effort on our campus to say no to drugs!
