Just a reminder from the coaches that permission forms to participate in the Jump-A-Thon must be returned before students will be allowed to participate. Also, pledge forms need to be turned in.

Mrs. Cole’s kindergartners are learning about Native Americans and some of their legends. Each of the children chose a Native American name and had the opportunity to earn feathers for good behavior.

Mrs. Clayton’s first-grade class is continuing a unit on air and weather. Due to the dramatic weather changes, the students have had lots to study and compare.  The class went to the Saenger Theatre to watch “Pinocchio” this week.

Mrs. Clayton’s class teams up with Mrs. Pierce’s first-grade class to read the story “Stone Soup,” and everyone then gets to taste stone soup. The class is looking forward to their “sharing celebration.”

Mrs. Riel’s first-graders are still learning long vowels. This week they are learning new long “e” spellings. They are also learning double-consonant words. The class continues to practice picking out good fit books as they build their stamina (independent reading).  In math the students are beginning subtraction.  In social studies they are learning about Thanksgiving and things of the past.
