Tee Off at the Wharf, opening summer, brings on Jonathan Kastner to lead operations

ORANGE BEACH — Tee Off is coming to The Wharf in Orange Beach.

Tee Off, powered by Top Golf, will be one of the newest additions within the Portside On Main section of The Wharf, which is the new section of the entertainment district featuring 26,000 square feet of grassy space and an outdoor stage. Tee Off will offer five swing suites along with a bar and food for patrons.

Jonathan Kastner, a notable chef and hot sauce fermenter within Baldwin County's food scene, will serve as the operations manager. Kastner expressed his enthusiasm for the establishment, noting how it gives people a place to do something indoors while also having outdoor space and a stage just outside their front door.

"This place is just so much fun," Kastner said. "I've never worked somewhere with this kind of indoor activities. This Top Golf swing suite stuff is just so cool. There's so many different games you can play on it. It's just gonna create a different atmosphere than just a traditional restaurant or bar."

Kastner, who has spent years in the restaurant and food industry with establishments such as Anchor Bar & Grill and as co-founder of Southern Chili Lab, which closed last fall after two years, is excited to begin working in a new environment. Some of the food he teased will be on the menu includes a lot of "upscale bar food" and "shareable" dishes, including salads; handheld food such as burgers and tacos; wings; and dips.

"Whether you're sitting at the bar and enjoying a really cold beer or if you're in the swing suite hitting golf balls, there should be something for everybody to enjoy," Kastner said.

As they continue to add to the space, Tee Off at The Wharf is expected to open this summer, with Kastner saying he hopes they will be open for business during the first week of June.
