SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Every year tens of thousands of students from around the country take the National Spanish Exam, a test that measures achievement and proficiency in Spanish. This exam is a contest at the state level.
Last month 30 students from Spanish Fort High School entered this national competition at different levels, including bilingual category.
This is the third year that Spanish Fort High School participated in the exam. Spanish Fort its first year placed a student, Lauren Linder, third in the state of Alabama and Kelsey Smith, first, the following year; Klaus Williams placed second in the bilingual category last year.
The results of the exam will not be known until later this month but “all of the sudents that took this challenging test are winners and have a promising future” said Marko Sebastiani, Spanish teacher and sponsor for the exam at Spanish Fort High School.
