Get ready for another show-stopping year at the South Baldwin Community Theatre as they get ready to take on their 51st show season in Gulf Shores.

The 2023-24 season will feature 10 shows, which will run from September to August.

Check below for the full theatre schedule:

Sept. 8-17: "The Guys"

Based on the playwright's real experiences, this show is a dialogue between a fire captain — who lost most of his men in the Sept. 11 attacks — and an editor who helps him write their eulogies as she struggles herself to come to terms with the events. A profound story dealing with loss, grief and healing.

*Special performance on 9/11.

Oct. 5-15: "Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe"

The four short stories compiled by Eric Coble and adapted for stage are among the best known and most appreciated of Poe's narrations. The predominant theme that can be found in all of them is loss. In The Raven, it's the loss of love, in The Fall of the House of Usher, the Usher family experiences the loss of their reputation, while The Pit and the Pendulum describes the deprivation of liberty, and finally, The Tell-Tale Heart depicts the way to insanity, that is, the loss of the mind.

Nov. 10-19: "The Outsiders," presented by the South Baldwin Kids Theatre

A searing story of real kids in real situations with real consequences seen through the eyes of Ponyboy. Territorial battles between the have-it-made rich kids and the underprivileged "greasers." But even in the midst of urban gang warfare Ponyboy can't forget a short poem that speaks to their fragile young lives. This heroic story of belonging, friendship, and maintaining hope in the face of struggle is a powerful reminder of what young people encounter everyday.

Dec. 15-17: "It's a Wonderful Life," presented by the Christmas Radio Theatre

A live radio play based on the beloved classic holiday movie. Actors portray numerous characters, and sound effects are done through Foley artists.

Jan. 11-21: "The Fantasticks"

Beloved by theatergoers for 50 years, The Fantasticks is a musical allegory about the romance of a young couple, Matt and Luisa, who find their relationship tested by their meddling fathers and a bandit narrator known as El Gallo.

Feb.14-25: "The Hallelujah Girls"

After the sudden death of a dear friend, a feisty group of women from the town of Eden Falls, Georgia, decide that life is indeed short, and they vow to change their lives and achieve their dreams. Sugar Lee Thompkins decides to reach for her elusive star by converting an abandoned church into a day spa.

April 12-21: "Channeling Grimm," presented by the South Baldwin Kids Theatre

Cameron doesn't know what to write for an Honors English assignment on the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm. Luckily, her friend has a solution… watch TV versions of the tales. But when Cameron points the unusual looking remote at the TV, instead they find the wackiest assortment of fairy-tale themed programming.

May 9-19: "A Streetcar Named Desire"

Tennessee William's classic Southern-Gothic play dramatizes the experiences of Blanche DuBois, a former Southern belle who, after encountering a series of personal losses, leaves her once-prosperous situation to move into a shabby apartment in New Orleans rented by her younger sister Stella and brother-in-law Stanley.

June 2024: SummerTide Theatre & Camp

Aug. 2-11: "Disney's Mary Poppins Jr.," presented by the South Baldwin Kids Theatre

Things are not going well for the Banks family, the children are out of control and are in need of a new nanny. When a mysterious young woman named Mary Poppins appears at their doorstep, the family finds that she's the answer to their prayers, but in the most peculiar way.
