DAPHNE, Ala. — You can eat, drink and be merry at Friday’s ‘Taste of the Eastern Shore Remembers the ’50s’ at the Daphne Civic Center for ages 21 and up.
The event begins at 7 p.m. and costs $25 per ticket; it will feature tastings from 50 vendors and dancing to live music from the Tip Tops, according to Sandra Morse, civic center director.
All proceeds go to Daphne High School, she said.
“The Daphne Civic Center employees work very hard to present this great event that benefits Daphne High School programs,” she said. “When you purchase your tickets you can write which department your proceeds will benefit.”
From chocolate covered bananas to chicken cordon bleu to chili-cheese fries, the variety of restaurants should suit palates of all shapes and sizes, she said.
Drinks will vary from strawberry margaritas to smoothies, she said.
The event began eight years ago and brought in 900 people last year, according to Morse.
This year’s theme involves poodle skirts and pedal pushers, she said; guests can wear 1950s attire or dress casually.
“We will take all back to the rockin’ ’50s,” she said, adding there are many reasons to come.
“This is the ideal event to find new restaurants, caterers, and sample from them as well as new beverages from our beverage vendors,” she said. “This is a great community event so all should come out and take this opportunity to support your community.
“Great food, beverage, music, and dance await you as the ‘Taste of the Eastern Shore Remembers the ’50s.’”
