ROBERTSDALE, Alabama --- The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a series of copper thefts from a Power South substation located near the Elsanor community east of Robertsdale.

According to a press release issued Tuesday by BCSO Investigator Eric Winberg, the first theft occurred at the substation, located on the west side of Greek Cemetery Road, south of County Road 87, on Aug 22. The substation was hit again on Aug. 29.

“Investigators have attempted to verify the suspect’s identity by other means, but to no avail,” Winberg stated in the release. It is believed that the suspect or suspects may be accessing the property by four-wheeler. “We are urging the public to come forward if they have any information regarding the thefts.”

Sheriff’s investigators are releasing photos of a man they believe is responsible for the thefts.

Anyone with information in the case is being urged to contact Investigator Lee Paul at  251-972-5889.
