SEEDS: How’s education?

DAPHNE, Ala. — Supporting Educational Enrichment in Daphne’s Schools wants your opinion on school improvement.

The organization is taking a survey to find what citizens think about local education — and what improvements are needed in 2008, according to a SEEDS spokesperson.

“To keep moving in the right direction, we need to find out more about the public’s priorities for the future,” Ruth Seawell, SEEDS president, said.

The public’s answers to the 15-question survey will affect what areas of education improvement will take priority in the coming year, Denise D’Oliveira, SEEDS communications coordinator, said.

“SEEDS belongs to the citizens of Daphne, and our foundation can only be as strong as our community’s support for it,” D’Oliveira said. “The more we know about everyone’s aspirations for our children and schools, the better we can focus our efforts to work toward those goals.

“We need all our citizens to take part in the 2008 SEEDS survey so that their voices can be heard.”

A hard copy and a Web-based survey will be available. The survey will be e-mailed to the approximately 1,000 parents, educators and citizens already in the SEEDS database. Others may visit SEEDS’ Web site at www.seedsindaphne.org to take the survey. Only one survey per e-mail address is allowed.

Hard copies are available at Christ the King, any of the five public schools in Daphne and at public buildings like the Daphne Public Library and City Hall. These can be faxed to 626-3710 or mailed to P.O. Box 460 Daphne, AL 36526.

One survey-taker whose response is received by Feb. 1 will win a $100 gift certificate from a local department store, Seawell said.
