Children from across Baldwin County have been having fun at the one-day camps offered by Baldwin County Alabama 4-H. Last month students learned to create cupcake masterpieces by creating and working with fondant.
There is still time to sign up for the annual Plants and Pollinators Summer Fun Day held by the Baldwin County Master Gardeners’ (BCMG) and Baldwin County 4-H.
The event will take place Friday, July 16, from 8:30 a.m. – noon at the Gulf Coast Research and Extension Center, 8300 State Hwy 104 in Fairhope.
This fun, interactive event is perfect for ages 8-14. Younger and older ages are welcome. An adult must accompany each family/friend group.
Activities will include a presentation from a local beekeeper, complete a step-by-step canvas bee painting, play pollinator bingo, and receive plants to take home. Fun Day will end with a watermelon snack, and for those that dare, the opportunity to compete in the annual watermelon seed-spitting contest!
Cost is $5 per family. Everyone must pre-register by calling the 4-H Office at (251) 937-7176 or send an email to sfb0010@aces.edu, no later than Thursday, July 15. Space is limited. Check-in will take place from 8 - 8:30 a.m.
