The Fairhope Unitarian Fellowship will open its new exhibit with a reception today, July 7, from 3-5 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

The works of professional photographers Terry Lindquist and his daughter, Kayla Lindquist, will on display.

During the reception there will be a musical piano performance of blues, boogie, jazz and originals by Jeannine “Dr. Jazz” Normand. Joyce Burkhart will provide hors d’oeuvres.

Terry Lindquist received his bachelor of fine arts degree from Rochester Institute of Technology where he studied under two influential American photography masters, Minor White and Beaumont Newhall.

He went on to earn the master of fine arts degree from Ohio University, and Ph.D. from Walden University.

Lindquist has exhibited widely, with one-person shows at Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Joe and Emily Lowe Art Museum, Canton Art Institute, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, International Museum of Photography, Hunter Museum of Art, Miami Museum of Modern Art, Michael C. Rockefeller Art Gallery, Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute Art Gallery and others.

Many of his photographs have been published in periodicals such as “Life International,” “Fortune,” “Popular Photography,” “Time,” “International Living” and others.

Lindquist taught at Ohio University for two years, at the University of Miami for seven, and 33 years at the State University of New York at Fredonia, N.Y.

Kayla Lindquist has traveled the world photographing such things as the landscapes of New Zealand, the 12 Apostles in Australia, children in Korea and the Sumo wrestlers in Japan. She has photographed the enchanting sunsets in Mustique and the Amazon.

Her photographs of authors have been published for Viking Press and magazines including “Town & Country,” “Departures” and “Quest.” She resides in New York City.

The exhibit will be open for viewing each Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. during the months of July and August.
