The Fairhope Public Library Foundation Board would like to thank the more than 380 registered runners, as well as their families, friends and observers, who participated in the Fairhope Public Library Foundation’s 2nd Annual “Hoot Scoot,” Running for Reading, held in Fairhope April 30.
After the race, participants and friends gathered at the Windmill Market for awards as well as some great food, music and even dancing. The Fairhope Public Library Foundation Board hopes “The Hoot Scoot” helped to raise awareness of the foundation, which recently received its 501c3 status. We are working hard to get the word out about the foundation in order to encourage community members and businesses to make contributions toward building an endowment from public and private gifts. It is the hope of the foundation board that we support the community’s desires and wishes in striving to make the Fairhope Public Library a world-class facility. The board believes that working with the community toward building an endowment is a huge step in helping the library achieve that goal.
On behalf of the board, I would like to thank the title sponsors, Diagnostic & Medical Clinic, Eastern Shore Children’s Clinic and Running Wild, as well as Nick Gill, Windmill Market, Moes BBQ, Dr. Music, Dolly Banks Stokes, Kim Lang, CK Collection, Corte Land & Cattle, Kenny McLean, Greer’s Fairhope Market, Page and Palette, Over The Transom Books, Dr. C. Douglas Harrell III. Dr. Marshall Shoemaker, Bayside Orthopaedics, KT Designs, Publix, John Adams and Little Red Hen Productions.
Sincere thanks also goes out to the Fairhope Police Department, mayor and council members, students from Fairhope High School IB program and Interact and Girls Service clubs, as well as the many volunteers from the library and community who worked so hard on this event.
Anyone who would like additional information about the Fairhope Public Library Foundation, or our “Wall of Honors” Program should call 990-2566.
