The Orange Beach Police Department will begin golf cart inspections and permit registrations in neighborhoods Jan. 8, 2022.
The Orange Beach City Council approved ordinance No. 2021-1398 during the Nov. 16, regular council meeting. The ordinance requires all golf carts in the city of Orange Beach to have a permit to operate on designated city streets. To obtain a permit, golf carts must pass an inspection. Golf cart owners must hold liability insurance.
Golf carts must have the following equipment and information to be inspected:
If one or more of the requirements is not met, the golf cart will fail inspection and no permit will be issued. Anyone driving a golf cart must hold a valid driver's license.
Inspection Dates and Locations (dates are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances):
- Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Bear Point Civic Association Center, 5681 Bay La Launch Ave.
- Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Lauder Place pool parking lot on the corner of Lauder Lane and Sailfish Lane, serving area property owners.
- Monday, Jan. 17, 2022: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Orange Beach Recreation Center parking lot, 4849 Wilson Blvd., serving East Orange Beach property owners and anyone with access to the location.
