ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — Resolution is the buzz around town. Dr. Kenlaw writes that the only way to make the new year better than the old is when we change the only thing we can change, and that is ourselves.

There are many activities going on in Orange Beach to encourage positive change.

The City’s recreation center is available 24/7 for member residents. This gives no excuses for not “getting in shape”.

As we strive to give more with less there is an opportunity for most of us to give something we have plenty of: blood. Giving blood provides an opportunity for living for many. Hunter Langford’s Blood Drive and Marrow Testing is January 10 at 10:00 am at The Wharf.

Also January 10 at The Event Center at The Wharf is Snowbird Fest Gulf Coast.

Orange Beach United Methodist Church is providing another opportunity to give by donating new or gently-used tennis shoes in January, to be sent to Orphanage Emanuel.

It’s time to include more art into your life so check out the Coastal Art Center at www.coastalartcenter.com. Learn More about Beginner Oil painting classes with Joanne Hall, along with Simone Lipscomb’s Photography Workshops.

Consider getting your diving license in preparation for your exploration of Poseidon’s Playground which deployed four structures just 3.5 miles off shore of Orange Beach’s Perdido Pass. This underwater playground was made possible by the Alabama Reef and Restoration Foundation which warrants your consideration for donations.

Island restaurants are engaging in conversations about solving labor and supply issues brought by successful Summer Seasons. Patronize local restaurants during the winter season and meet new friends during local’s nights on Thursday evenings which include Toby Keith’s on January 22 and Bubba’s Seafood on January 29.

Our community offers extraordinary activities encouraging resolutions of transformation.  Happy New Year!
