FOLEY — South Baldwin Regional Medical Center's new CEO, Margaret Roley, is celebrating the successes of the past while looking to the future.

The Bay Minette native graduated from the University of South Alabama with bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing and served as chief nursing officer at North Baldwin Infirmary before joining the staff at SBRMC 17 years ago.

"I have always wanted to influence healthcare in my community and give back to the people in the area where I grew up in and never plan to leave from," she said.

After joining the staff at SBRMC, Roley earned her Doctor of Nursing practice degree in 2018 and served as acting CEO in January before being officially named CEO in March.

Roley has led hospital initiatives at SBRMC since 2006, leading the medical center to maintaining an A: Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade and CMS four-star rating. She has guided developments including the opening of SBRMC's freestanding emergency department in Gulf Shores and most recently the planning and implementation of the hospital's modernization project.

"I am proud of the external validations through awards, accreditations and associations who endorse South Baldwin Regional Medical Center as a quality healthcare provider," she said. "We are proud to offer the level of service they represent."

Moving forward, Roley said she wanted to provide patients with a modernized, expanded facility that reflects excellent patient care through updated aesthetics and façade.

"With this project, we'll launch a Women's and Children's Center of Excellence with the sole focus of growing our women's services to meet the community's needs," she said. "We're adding another experienced physician to our team of award-winning OB-GYNs and are prepping for the transition of our newly remodeled OB-GYN clinic that is closer to the hospital opening in mid-April."

Along with this is the growing range of access points that provide primary, emergency, immediate and urgent care options to Baldwin County with the Freestanding Emergency Department in Gulf Shores, stretching from north of the main Foley campus in Robertsdale to Lillian and south to GlenLakes, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, with additional plans to grow north and west of the main facility.

She currently serves on the executive board for Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance, serves on the board of South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Baldwin County, and is a member of Coastal Alabama Business Chamber, Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and G.U.M.B.O.
