If you are like me, then spring means three things to you: pollen allergies, Cadbury eggs and BASEBALL.
Baseball is America’s greatest pastime, and you and your family have plenty of chances to see the greatest game in person in the next few weeks.
The Mobile BayBears kick off their home schedule with a weekend series against the Biloxi Shuckers, formerly known as the Huntsville Stars. The Friday, April 17 game is the first Friday Night Fireworks game of the year. The BayBears have an excellent fireworks display after every Friday night home game.
The following weekend, the BayBears begin a five-game home series against the Mississippi Braves from April 25 to 29.
The BayBears also have a new promotional schedule. Sunday Fun Day gives families a chance to play catch on the field at Hank Aaron Stadium before the game. After the game kids 12 and under can run the bases. Sunday games can also be Bark in the Park days, where fans are invited to bring their pooches to the game.
Every Monday Matters games invite fans to bring two books, gently used clothing or two non-perishable food items to receive a free grandstand ticket. The donations benefit places like the Bay Area Food Bank and the Goodwill Easter Seals.
If college baseball is more your speed, the South Alabama Jaguars host a three-game series against Georgia State April 24 to 26. The Jags play at beautiful Stanky Field on the USA campus in Mobile.
