FORT MORGAN — Last Friday, a brush fire broke out about 14 miles down Fort Morgan, AKA Highway 180, that burned an estimated 15 acres.

The fire was reported around 3:30 p.m., and by a little after 7 p.m. the first responders had the fire under control and work on the area was being wrapped up, according to a worker at the Fort Morgan Volunteer Fire Station.

According to a Facebook post from the station, in addition to their crew, emergency resources were also dispatched to the area from Gulf Shores Fire Rescue, Orange Beach Fire Rescue, Bon Secour Fire Rescue, Foley Fire Department, the Alabama Forestry Commission and a MedStar ambulance.

Traffic on the road was limited to one lane as emergency vehicles were parked along the south side of Highway 180. Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office managed traffic flow and used drone equipment to survey the area.

“The swift response of our resources ensured no property loss during this incident,” the Facebook post reads.
