Avery Pickle, 17, who was reported missing on July 4, was discovered early this morning in the waters of Palmetto Creek. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, which had been intensively searching for him since his disappearance, is now investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.

Pickle was last seen on July 4 around 2:30 p.m. to 3  p.m. in the Perdido Beach area near Selma Avenue and Elberta. He was reportedly swimming in Palmetto Creek when he vanished. At the time of his disappearance, Pickle was wearing khaki shorts; his shirt was not identified. He had a distinctive tattoo of ducks over his collarbone, which was a key detail in identifying him.

Pickle's truck, keys, phone and wallet were found abandoned, with no immediate sign of him. The Sheriff’s Office interviewed all known associates and pursued every lead during the exhaustive search.

Authorities are now working to piece together what happened and no further information will be released at this time. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with additional information to come forward to aid in the ongoing investigation.
