SUMMERDALE, Alabama — A Summerdale man is in jail on drug trafficking, weapons possession and attempt to elude charges after attempting to flee from deputies executing a search warrant on his property last week.
George Edward Adams, 46, was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility July 8 on charges of trafficking methamphetamine, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, certain person forbidden to possess a pistol and fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer. He is in jail on a $1,002,000 bond.
According to a release issued Monday by the BCSO investigations command, during the past several weeks, the Baldwin County Drug Task Force developed information that indicated Adams was selling methamphetamine (ice) in Summerdale.
When deputies arrived to execute a search warrant on the property July 8 in the 300 block of Highway 59 North, Adams fled from his residence to an SUV, according to the release.
After ignoring commands from deputies to get out of the vehicle, Adams drove away from the location and sped through a small, but populated area. Investigators pursued Adams until he struck a nearby fence post. Adams then attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended by investigators.
Investigators searched Adams’ vehicle and residence and found more than 30 grams of methamphetamine (ice). Investigators also found electronic scales and packaging material, common with drug distribution.
A .45 caliber pistol was also located in Adams’ residence that had rounds in the magazine. In a statement, Adams said he was a convicted felon, who has served time in prison for shooting into an occupied dwelling.
