Lake Forest capital road improvements progressing

DAPHNE, Ala.—Daphne’s Public Works Department issued an update for the roadwork taking place in the Lake Forest subdivision of Daphne, detailing work accomplished this week and plans for next week.

The project began with work on Ridgewood Drive. In the past week, work has continued on Ridgewood Drive between Worchester Loop North and Worchester Loop South.

The curbing project has also progressed. Contractors reported on Thursday that the curbs were almost complete and work would soon commence on the noses of the curbs.

The sod has been delivered and it is currently being placed in the medians of affected areas. Grass being placed in these areas is a hybrid zoysia grass, which is harder than St. Augustine and centipede grass.

Property owners whose property is between 502 and 486 Ridgewood Drive and at 157 Worchester Drive are the only residents currently affected by the construction, but traffic has been limited and some traffic is diverted away from this area during work hours. The contractor will have two flaggers in place next week to direct traffic.

By Wednesday of next week (May 11), work will move south between Worchester Loop and Lawson Road.

Contractors said by May 13, residents would be able to see the progress made and get a better idea of what the final results of the project will look like.
