Families can dive into hands-on crafts, storytimes, games and interactive dining experiences designed to spark imagination and connection. Whether you are planning an after-school outing or a weekend adventure, there is something on the calendar to keep young minds busy and smiling.

Many of these events are free or budget-friendly, so families can enjoy special moments without stretching their wallet.

MARDI GRAS STORYTIME WITH ERICA BASSETT

What: Gulf Shores Public Library will host a Mardi Gras-themed storytime featuring special guest Erica Bassett, the City of Gulf Shores events supervisor. Bassett, one of the key organizers behind the city’s Mardi Gras parade, will share insights into planning one of the area’s most popular celebrations. The program includes themed story readings, songs, a mini parade and a hands-on craft activity designed for young children and families.

When: Thursday, Feb. 12, 10:30 a.m.

GEEK NIGHT – TEEN SERVICES

What: Fairhope Public Library will host Geek Night for teens ages 13-18 featuring an evening of games and social time. Activities include card games, board games and Nintendo Switch play. Teens are encouraged to bring friends and enjoy a relaxed environment centered on gaming and shared interests.

When: Thursday, Feb. 12, 5-6 p.m.

Where: Fairhope Public Library, 501 Fairhope Ave., Fairhope

Price: Free

JELLYFISH JAM DINNER AT THE HANGOUT

What: The Hangout Gulf Shores will debut Jellyfish Jam, an interactive family dinner experience featuring themed entertainment (of a certain famous square sponge), games and activities. The evening includes a meet-and-greet with a popular undersea character, dance contests, trivia, photo opportunities and food in a high-energy atmosphere designed for children and parents alike.

When: Sunday, Feb. 15, 5-8 p.m.

Where: The Hangout Gulf Shores, 101 E. Beach Blvd., Gulf Shores

Price: Free admission

WINTER OF FUN: ART AL FRESCO BEACHY BIRDHOUSE

What: This all-ages Art al Fresco workshop invites participants to design and create a custom beach-themed birdhouse. The lunch-and-learn style event includes materials and a $10 Tacky Jacks gift card. Participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes early. RSVP is required online at www.tackyjacks.com.

When: Monday, Feb. 16, 10-11:30 a.m.

AFTER SCHOOL SOCIAL

What: Sunliner Diner in Orange Beach invites students through 12th grade to step back into the 1950s with an after-school social featuring discounted milkshakes and a retro dining atmosphere. Guests can enjoy classic decor, music and the diner’s all-day breakfast menu while socializing with friends.

When: Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2-4 p.m.

Where: Sunliner Diner, 26035 Perdido Beach Blvd., Orange Beach

Price: $5 milkshakes (up to grade 12)
