ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — Country music fans have been waiting expectantly for months, and April 11 it happens as country music superstar Tim McGraw takes the stage at the Amphitheater at The Wharf at 7 p.m.

McGraw, 42, who is married to fellow country star Faith Hill and is the son of former professional baseball player Tug McGraw, has produced hit after hit over the past decade including songs like “Indian Outlaw,” “Live Like You Were Dying,” “Don’t Take the Girl,” and “I Like It, I Love It.” With album sales totaling more than 40 million, 11 of his projects debuted at the top of Billboard’s country charts, and McGraw has had 21 singles make it to No. 1 on the Hot Country 100 chart.

Three of his tunes, “Live Like You Were Dying,” “It’s Your Love,” and “Just To See You Smile,” were all voted No. 1 country songs of the year.

Since 1992, when he first began entertaining country music fans, the Dehli, La. native has won every possible music award including 14 Academy of Country Music awards, 10 American Music Awards, and 3 People’s Choice Awards.

Samuel Timothy McGraw has also made his mark on the big screen, being featured in flicks such as Four Christmases with Vince Vaughn, Friday Night Lights, and the recent hit movie The Blind Side, where he starred alongside Sandra Bullock.

Concert promoters are expecting a sell out at the Wharf, which local officials hope will help boost the recent slow economy.

McGraw enjoys a large loyal and faithful following. His Soul2Soul Tour with wife Faith Hill stands as the highest grossing country music tour in history. That same year, McGraw released his Greatest Hits album, a project that stayed on top of the charts for nine weeks and sold close to 6 million copies.

McGraw will be joined by Lady Antebellum, a Nashville based group made up of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood. Lady Antebellum was featured originally on the song “Never Alone” with pianist Jim Brickman.  The band has enjoyed two No. 1 singles “I Run to You” and “Need You Now.”

The tour stop comes one night after a gig in New Orleans.

This will be the second big country music event for The Wharf during the 2010 concert season, coming only a month after a sold out Rascal Flatts concert in early March.
