Goodwill Gulf Coast is gearing up for the holiday season with the release of its 2024 "Christmas on the Coast" ornaments, which launched today, Nov. 1.

Available for purchase online at www.goodwillgulfcoast.org and at select retail locations, these ornaments are priced at $20 each. Proceeds will support the various programs and services Goodwill Gulf Coast provides to communities in Alabama and Florida.

This year's Mobile ornament captures the essence of the legendary Crichton Leprechaun, a phenomenon that gripped the local community on March 14, 2006. The sighting, described by an eyewitness who sketched an amateur drawing of the leprechaun, sparked a frenzy when a local news station aired the story. It was later posted on YouTube, becoming one of the platform's first viral sensations, amassing over 6.5 million views as of 2024. The leprechaun's tale has since been referenced by numerous national media outlets, cementing its place in local folklore.

Meanwhile, the Pensacola ornament pays homage to the iconic Palafox Pier, a beloved destination for both locals and tourists. This picturesque marina offers stunning views of the waterfront and is adjacent to Plaza de Luna, a city park that honors Tristán de Luna y Arellano, the founder of America's first European settlement established during his 1559 expedition. The park boasts a fountain courtyard, an 1,800-foot promenade perfect for leisurely strolls and fishing, an amphitheater for performances, and a terrace ideal for sunset views over Pensacola Bay.

In addition to online and retail store availability, the ornaments can also be found at several local vendors. In the Mobile area, these include Cammie's Old Dutch Ice Cream Shoppe, Carpe Diem Coffee & Tea, Christmas Round the Corner in Fairhope, The Holiday, Robert Moore Christmas Town, Smith Hardware in Saraland, Southern Art & Framing and Springhill Ace Hardware. Goodwill Gulf Coast stores in Mobile, Semmes, Saraland, Fairhope and Spanish Fort will also carry the ornaments.

For Pensacola residents, ornaments will be available at Beré Jewelers, Renfroe Pecan Company, Member's First Credit Union and Goodwill stores located in Pensacola, Pace and Fort Walton Beach.
