It is with heavy hearts that we come together to celebrate the life of Gloria Andrea Schottgen Shearer Bishop, who passed away on Jun. 13, 2024. Gloria was born on Feb. 27, 1936, to her loving parents Andrew B. Schottgen and Mildred Marguerite Schottgen.

Gloria's journey through life was marked by dedication and grace. She graduated from C F Vigor High School where she not only excelled academically but also shone as a cheerleader, Miss Vigor, and a member of the Azalea Trail. Her commitment to excellence followed her into her professional career, where she spent the majority of her years in the trust department at Merchants National Bank. In Dickson, Tennessee she was very active in the Church of Christ.

Throughout her life, Gloria touched the hearts of many with her kindness and unwavering love. She was preceded in death by her sisters Lydia Rodden Lewis and Mildred R. Curtis, as well as her husbands, Don R. Shearer and Jessie Bishop.

Gloria leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her son Don Richard "Rick" Shearer, daughter-in-law Laura Hiatt Shearer, grandchildren John Daniel Shearer, Katie (Jonathan) Davidson, Emily (Lance) Powell, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Andrew Bernard Schottgen Jr., stepsons Ronnie Bishop, Gary Bishop, Tim Bishop, numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

In honoring Gloria's memory, let us remember her for the warmth she brought into our lives and the love she shared unconditionally. May she rest in peace knowing that she was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

The family received friends at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope Chapel, Tues., Jun. 18, 2024, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Graveside services and interment were held in Pine Crest Cemetery, Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Alabama, Tues., Jun. 18, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
