GULF SHORES — The "Get Alarmed Alabama!" smoke alarm initiative has launched in Gulf Shores. Gulf Shores Fire Rescue (GSFR) is participating in the statewide program to ensure all homes throughout Gulf Shores are outfitted with smoke detectors.

"Smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire in half," said Gulf Shores Fire Chief, Mark Sealy. "Every day across this country, home fires threaten families – but working smoke alarms can be the difference between survival and tragedy. We want to be part of the solution to preventing fire deaths; that's why we want to make sure everyone in our community has a working smoke alarm in their home."

Gulf Shores Fire Rescue maintains a supply of offers smoke alarms which will be provided and installed by GSFR firefighters free of charge to qualifying residents who have financial or physical limitations and require assistance.

To participate, visit gulfshoresal.gov/GetAlarmed and fill out the smoke alarm installation form. A GSFR firefighter will contact the homeowner to schedule an installation date and time.
