Foley’s Riviera Utilities honored with national SOAR award

Posted

Foley’s Riviera Utilities has once again been recognized on the national stage for excellence in operating its natural gas utility.

The American Public Gas Association presented Riviera Utilities with its System Operational Achievement Recognition, known as SOAR, during the organization’s 2025 Annual Conference in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Riviera Utilities was selected by the APGA Operations and Safety Committee from among roughly 750 members nationwide. The award honors natural gas utilities that demonstrate excellence in four areas: system integrity, system improvement, employee safety and workforce development.

The APGA represents more than 700 public natural gas utilities that provide service to more than 5 million customers across the country. Utilities awarded SOAR status retain the designation for three years before reapplying to maintain recognition. Riviera Utilities last earned the honor in 2022.

Riviera Utilities provides natural gas, electric and wastewater services in Baldwin County. The public utility is governed by a board of directors elected by the city of Foley.
