A 23-year-old Foley man was arrested Wednesday, Feb. 25, on a felony charge alleging he used an electronic device to solicit a child for sexual acts, authorities said.
Officers with the Foley Police Department, assisted by the Gulf Shores Police Department, apprehended Marquise Jamell Scott on an outstanding warrant for electronic solicitation of a child. He was taken into custody without incident.
Detectives began investigating after learning Scott allegedly used an electronic device to communicate with and solicit a juvenile under the age of 16 for sexual acts, police said. Details about how the investigation originated were not immediately released.
Scott was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Center. Electronic solicitation of a child is a Class B felony under Alabama law.
