A Bay Minette man was charged with attempted murder after police said he shot a 51-year-old woman in the back of the head early Monday morning.
Bay Minette police responded at approximately 2:30 a.m. Sept. 28 to a report of a woman injured in her driveway in the 1100 block of Grove Street. Officers determined 24-year-old Elijah Walker had approached the woman from behind and shot her once.
The woman was transported to North Baldwin Infirmary and was in stable condition.
Police said the shooting followed a dispute between Walker and the woman that had continued for most of the previous day. The two have known each other for many years.
Walker was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Center and was awaiting arraignment and bond hearings.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to Bay Minette Police Chief James Rosier Jr., who issued the department's news release Monday afternoon.
