MOBILE, Alabama — The Foley Lions kept their playoff hopes alive with a 28-14 win over the Williamson Lions in 6A Region 2 play on Friday at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

Foley (5-3, 3-3) needed to beat Williamson (3-5, 3-3) to stay in the hunt for the four seed in Region 2. A win over Satsuma next week could seal the spot for Foley.

Foley jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first half. Kalif Koen rushed 10 times for 114 yards and two scores and quarterback Maison Taylor had a hot hand, completing 9-of-9 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown in the first half.

"I thought we came out and played well in the first half," Foley head coach Todd Watson said. "We just kind of relaxed (in the second half) and you can't do that against a good team. To Williamson's credit they fought back and played hard and got themselves back in the ballgame."

Foley's Bob Pugh returned a third quarter punt 76 yards for a touchdown, but Williamson drove 66 yards for a touchdown drive capped by a 3-yard score by Chauncey Hunter and a two-point conversion pass from Jamie Etheridge to Arkeenmia Thomas brought the score to 28-8 Foley. On Foley's next possession, Taylor was intercepted by Kelvin Lenore, who returned the pick from midfield to the Foley 5. Etheridge connected with Brandon Peters for a score that cut Foley's lead to 28-14.

Another Williamson threat was stopped with 6:08 left in the game when Caleb Autrey intercepted Etheridge near the Foley 25. Foley stopped Williamson's final drive on a fourth down attempt with 36 seconds left.

Koen finished with 18 carries for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Taylor completed 10-of-13 passes for 167 with a touchdown and an interception. Quinton Butler had four catches for 131 yards and a touchdown in the first half for Foley. B.T. Sanders added an interception and a sack for the Foley defense.
