Caution: low flying fish is a term you may hear often this weekend. If you are new to the Gulf Coast you may not know about the famous Interstate Mullet Toss at the Flora-Bama. Imagine a weekend-long beach party with a fish-throwing contest. One weekend a year, participants young and old will test their throwing arms and see who can throw a dead mullet farthest over the Alabama and Florida state line. It may sound bizarre, but it is a staple to the yearly event calendar.

Partying on the beach and throwing dead fish not your style? No worries because our list of top happenings has a lot to offer. Watch an artist create in front of your eyes in Foley, enjoy German food in Elberta, learn more about the local outdoor offerings in Spanish Fort or support local makers at the Fairhope Pier Sunday. Don't forget to check out the Event Calendar at GulfCoastMedia.com for more happenings all week long.
