On Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, the Fairhope Police Department released information concerning a shooting that occurred on Young Street in Fairhope. Today, Thursday, September 2, 2010, the suspect surrendered himself at the Fairhope Police Department. Chazdin Cottrell, age 20, of Daphne, Alabama was booked into the Fairhope Municipal Jail at 3:35 p.m. on a single count of assault in the first degree. He will be held pending a transfer to the Baldwin County Corrections Center in Bay Minette. Mr. Cottrell, accompanied by his attorney, came to the police department voluntarily and was taken into custody without incident. The victim of the shooting was treated at Thomas Hospital for his injury and has since been released.
