Fairhope High School hosted a round of exhibition summer league basketball games last Thursday, June 9, in anticipation of the next season.
The host Pirates – three-time defending Class 7A Area 2 champions – disposed of the Vigor Wildcats 56-23 in the teams’ first meeting before Robertsdale and Daphne needed an overtime period to determine a winner.
The Golden Bears and Trojans finished two halves of regulation tied at 30 points apiece but it was eventually junior Trevor Pugh who cleaned up a rebound and scored a put-back basket to win the sudden-death overtime. Robertsdale also beat Bayshore Christian and Vigor in their day of competition.
