Fairhope High School to unveil new $2.3M parking lot for 2024-25 school year

Fairhope High School students will start the 2024-2025 school year with a new parking lot.

The $2.3 million project includes a 400-space lot in front of the existing lot, closer to U.S. 98.

The parking lot improvement is just the beginning of what is to come at the school. Baldwin County Public Schools' latest capital project focus is on athletic and fine arts enhancements. Although a date for the construction has not been released, Fairhope will see the construction of a new gymnasium, multi-purpose athletic facility and new weight equipment. The project is part of the  BCBE's Pay As You Go Program and is budgeted to cost $6.7 million.

OTHER BCPS PROJECTS

If you have driven down Highway 59 recently, you may have seen construction at Robertsdale High School. This includes an 11,000-square-foot gymnasium, a 10,135-square-foot multipurpose athletic training facility, new weight equipment and a 10,000-square-foot band room expansion. The improvements will cost approximately $9 million. The school also received a new parking lot, which is not included in that total.

Daphne, Elberta, Baldwin County and Spanish Fort high schools will also see similar upgrades through this capital project, which was presented to the Board of Education last year. The county's total cost estimate for the projects is $56 million, excluding professional design fees. Countywide athletic enhancement is $42 million of that total, followed by instructional band/music room expansions ($9 million) and additional campus reconfigurations ($6 million).
