Nestled in the heart of Stockton, the Baldwin County Bicentennial Park stands as a testament to Baldwin County's rich history and natural beauty.

This 367-acre park at 51233 State Highway 225 offers a blend of historical landmarks, educational exhibits and recreational opportunities, making it a cherished destination for locals and visitors alike.

Bicentennial Park was established to commemorate Baldwin County's 200th anniversary, with a mission to preserve and celebrate the area's cultural and historical heritage. The park features a variety of attractions that highlight different periods of Baldwin County's past, from its Native American roots to its role in the Civil War and beyond.

One of the park's key attractions is the Historic Village, a meticulously recreated 19th-century settlement. Visitors can explore authentic log cabins, a one-room schoolhouse and more, gaining insight into the daily lives of early settlers.

In addition to its historical exhibits, Bicentennial Park boasts extensive nature trails that wind through its scenic woodlands and wetlands. These trails offer opportunities for hiking, bird watching and enjoying the natural beauty of the region. The park also includes picnic areas, making it an ideal spot for family outings.

Educational programs and events are a staple at Bicentennial Park. The park hosts school groups, scout troops and other organizations, providing interactive learning experiences about Baldwin County's history and environment. Annual events, such as historical reenactments and festivals, draw crowds from across the region and beyond.

War monuments and memorials are integral parts of Bicentennial Park's landscape, paying tribute to the sacrifices and contributions of Baldwin County residents throughout history. Visitors can find monuments dedicated to soldiers who fought in various conflicts, including the Civil War and World War II. These monuments serve as solemn reminders of the county's military heritage and the bravery of those who served.

Bicentennial Park's commitment to education and preservation is evident in its ongoing efforts to maintain and expand its facilities. Recent improvements include the addition of new walking paths, enhanced signage and upgraded amenities to better serve the community.

The park is open to the public seven days a week from dawn to dusk, but check the website at https://parks.baldwincountyal.gov/bicentennial for alternate hours, events and times for guided tours. Admission to the park is free and the park can be reserved for special events as well.
