The Alabama Gulf Coast is full of history, but nothing makes history more fun than seeing it play out before your eyes. Experience Living History Day at Blakeley State Park, April 6.

Blakeley State Park is Alabama's largest Civil War battlefield and the site of the pivotal battle that led to the surrender of Mobile in the war's last combined-forces operation.

Living History Day will bring reenactors and trained guides will help visitors understand the experiences of the men who fought on the grounds of Blakeley. A series of weapons demonstrations will give guests the unique opportunity to experience the sounds the soldiers experienced and learn how the weapons were operated. Visitors can also take a special cruise to explore the sites where the major actions of the Mobile Campaign took place.

The action kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 6 at 9 a.m. The "Civil War on the Eastern Shore" cruise will set sail at 10 a.m. A guided tour of a portion of the battlefield is at 1 p.m.

If you get hungry after all the action, the Spanish Fort Masonic Lodge will be on-site cooking up hamburgers and hot dogs.
