ROBERTSDALE, Alabama -- Several events are being planned around Central Baldwin County to celebrate the Easter season.
In addition to local churches planning services, here are just a few of the community-wide events that have been planned for the area.
The 11th annual Easter Eggstravaganza will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 29 at the pavilion in Robertsdale’s Garrett Park.
The annual event kicks off Child Abuse Awareness Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month and will benefit The Lighthouse of Baldwin County, said Associate Director Rhyon Ervin.
Based in Robertsdale, The Lighthouse opened its doors in 1994 and is committed to providing support, preventing violence and promoting justice for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
In addition to representatives from The Lighthouse, representatives will be on hand from the Alabama Marine Police, the Dogwood Trailmaids and the Robertsdale Fire Department. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department will give a drug dog demonstration and, of course, the Easter Bunny will be available for photos with the kids.
The Easter egg hunt will begin promptly at 11 a.m. with two areas, one for ages 3 to 7 years old and one for ages 8 to 12 years old with approximately 15,000 eggs. There will also be a kiddie prize area for ages 2 and under operating throughout the event, Ervin said.
The event will also include cake walks, horse rides and inflatables. Lunch, including hot dogs and a drink, will be served immediately following the hunt.
