Daphne Middle School gets $10K grant

DAPHNE, Ala. — Daphne Middle School announced it has received a $10,000 grant from the Monsanto fund, a private foundation and the philanthropic arm of Monsanto Company, to fund ecology laboratory experiences.

This initiative will encompass student-field experiences in all areas of environmental science on the Daphne Middle School campus at the school’s wetland area.

These field experiences will allow the school to provide better educated, critical thinking employees to business and industries in the near future, by implementing technologies and techniques that are important in the way businesses operate in today’s society, a school spokesperson said.

“Monsanto is committed to supporting the communities where we do business,” said Kevin Atwell, testing operations manager for the Monsanto Company, Loxley Division.

Marie Saunders stated, “We at Monsanto are pleased to support this effort at the middle-school level to train well-rounded, technologically savvy individuals for the workplace.”

About Monsanto Fund

The Monsanto Fund is the philanthropic arm of the Monsanto Company, incorporated in 1964.

The fund’s primary objective is to improve the lives of people by bridging the gap between their needs and their resources. The Monsanto Fund is focused on grant-making in four main areas: nutritional well-being through agriculture; science education; healthy environment, which includes conservation, protection of biodiversity, clean water and restoration of wildlife habitat; and improving the quality of life in communities where Monsanto employees live and work.
