Marie Stewart, Custodial Supervisor, was named the Employee of the Year. Nominations for this prestigious award were submitted by employees across various city departments, with Stewart receiving multiple nominations. Joining the City three years ago, Stewart has consistently demonstrated a willingness to go above and beyond. Nominators praised her for being "always willing to do whatever it takes" and for lending a helping hand whenever needed. Colleagues noted her work benefits all departments, and she carries out her duties with the best interests of the City in mind.

As Custodial Supervisor, Stewart oversees staffing and schedules for custodial duties across city facilities and departments. Described as someone who "always goes the extra mile," she actively contributes to the success of events at the civic center and participates in special community projects. In a recent commendation, it was highlighted that Stewart stepped in to fill a temporary opening in the SAIL Center, which operates the senior nutrition program, demonstrating her commitment to ensuring the program's sustainability.

Mayor Bob Wills commended Stewart, stating that these examples showcase an employee who has shown a high level of commitment to the City and its citizens.

The luncheon also featured festive activities, including a Christmas sweater competition, bingo games, and the distribution of door prizes donated by local businesses and individuals. Winners of the sweater contest were Connie Wallace for Ugliest Sweater, Jody McMillan for Cutest Sweater, and Lynn House for Tackiest Sweater.
